Before starting at FF I was having a really rough time in my job. I’m in a stressful profession but things had really come to a head and I had been signed off with stress. I was really gutted to find myself in this position because I consider myself to be someone who can cope pretty well. This was coupled with me contracting a string of viruses that just wiped me out and I felt like I would never feel well again.

I have been to quite a few gyms in the past few years and just done my own thing. In the past year I started doing my own thing at home never really knowing what I was doing or what I was aiming for but just doing it because I thought it was good for me.

Just before being signed off, I stopped doing any sort of exercise whatsoever because I did not have the motivation anymore and was feeling progressively physically ill. I realised that I needed to do something to get me back into exercise and to help pull me out of the mud that I was in mentally.

I did some searching around and looking back, I’m not sure why Fitness Formation stood out to me. I filled out an enquiry form and Heather called me quite soon after that. I explained my situation and she was so helpful and friendly. Consequently, I signed up for the ‘6 Week Challenge’.

I was really nervous about going for the first few weeks because I didn’t know anyone and I didn’t know what to expect. As the weeks went on I felt the stress leave me, not because work was any easier, but because I was exercising again.

FF isn’t just a place where you exercise. I am struck every time I go by the fantastic community there. In the past, a workout for me would have just dragged and dragged and I couldn’t understand why I was putting myself through it.

Now, at FF, the sessions just fly by because it’s full of people doing the same thing as you, laughing, joking, grimacing! I find myself having more fun each time I go. That’s the best thing about FF, that it is really community with real, normal people who aren’t seeking ‘gym glory’ just enjoying themselves and supporting one another each step of the way.

The coaches take a proper interest in each individual person and they really know what they are talking about. No two workouts are the same and I’m really pleased with how my body has to keep guessing as to what we’re doing next. I’ve been learning a lot about proper form and the wide range of exercises that hit each muscle group.

For me, it’s more about the mental benefits. I feel like I am a different person mentally because of FF, work is still hard but I know I can come to FF and work it all out in the sessions alongside fantastic people and great coaches. Physically, I feel fitter and leaner and have been recommending Fitness Formation to my friends.

It’s hands down the best gym I have ever been to. To some, it might seem a little on the expensive side but I would much rather pay for the laughs and community than be stuck in a gym on my own with no one taking an interest in me and where it’s really boring.
