I joined Fitness Formation just over two years ago……..

I think I’m addicted.

I’ve been training on and off since I did a sports course at college, then I had two kids and it all went pear shaped. I’d lost my mojo.

A few years ago, I got back into regular training with a few friends when I became a full-time carer to my disabled daughter and I needed somewhere to be around like minded people.  As she was getting older, bigger and heavier (and I was getting older) I was becoming more aware that I needed to be fit and strong so I could keep lifting her as she has mobility issues.

I was training at a regular gym but there weren’t any personal trainers or programmes to keep me motivated and I wasn’t getting the results. So it was time for a change and when my friend suggested a trial at FF I put it off for a while but then one day thought I’d go for it.

I loved it from my first session. It was brutal, and I’d never worked out so hard. I remember leaving shaking, but most of all wanting to go back and do another session as soon as possible. In that first six weeks I lost inches and half a stone, found my motivation and my love of training again, decided to join up and haven’t looked back since.

The best thing about FF is the positivity and the way they want to change your mindset from the moment you join. The coaches really know their stuff and are dedicated to providing the best training environment possible and will work with you realistically to achieve your goals. You can ask the coaches anything and you get an honest opinion whether it’s about mindset, nutrition, goals, exercise, stretching or even giving me a talking to when I’ve needed it.

They have really changed the way I think and taught me moderation with everything so I’ve now got a much healthier attitude with food. My main goal is to keep strong physically and mentally and without FF, I would definitely stop training in the long term. I am now lifting weights I never thought possible and still focussing on lifting heavier as time goes on as I’m seeing more results.

Anna Kirkbride - Success Story

It’s so good to be around coaches who really look out for you and want you to stay a member because you’ve become part of the team. I’ve made some amazing friends too and we have such a great support network, tons of encouragement and brilliant laughs in and out of sessions. I’d be lost without them!

FF have done a lot for me personally too and helped me achieve things I’d never have done without them. This is especially true when they offered to raise £2000 to help my family fund an all-terrain wheelchair for my daughter. They helped raise awareness through the local paper and with a lot of kind support from friends, family and local businesses they gave up their time and held a boot camp on a very cold, wet December day. We had such a laugh doing it but more importantly it has helped make my daughter’s life so much easier now she can get out and about hassle free. I’ll always be very grateful.

I’ve had loads of inspiration from other members too and managed to train to run the Great Manchester 10k. Now, I’m not a runner at all but I was determined to finish it and felt confident enough to do it to raise sponsorship for my daughter’s school’s new sensory room.  Another result of which I ended up opening the sensory room and cutting the ribbon on the door. I’ve never been asked to do anything like that before, and I felt very proud.

I also broke my shoulder a year ago and was devastated as I couldn’t train for months. The coaches were really encouraging and positive in supporting my rehab so I could get back training. I truly believe that if I hadn’t been as fit and strong as I was then I wouldn’t have made the recovery I did.

There’s a lot to be said for positivity and a good mindset but you need the team behind you. So if you’re ummming and arghhing, not sure whether to join FF for whatever reason or feeling anxious about what to expect if you join, just do it as you never know what it’s in store and it might just surprise you!

We’re an amazing team of all ages, shapes, sizes, personalities and abilities and you will fit in no problem.

I love it, and I hope you will too.
