It was two and a half years ago when I first joined Fitness Formation in my mid 40’s.  A friend, who had begun to see amazing results there, had told me about it and I thought I’d give it a go. With my 3 children all at secondary school, I finally had more spare time after work to fit exercise into my routine.

Over the years, I’d tried most local gyms and classes at sometime or another but never stuck to anything, always feeling a bit lost and isolated in the gym environments.

The difference at Fitness Formation was that I immediately felt welcome and that the coaches were really interested in helping me improve myself. Right from the start, I was pushed to do my best and the semi-personal training element of every session, whether there were 2 or 12 people, really drove me on and I began to feel that my age was no barrier to becoming fitter and more toned than I’d ever been. 

Every session, even thirty months down the line is different and they never get easier which stops any complacency! Being at FF has also meant that even on holiday (and I am lucky to have a few holidays a year as Ryan will tell you) I now find a gym, do a regular home workout or go running and this has only happened since I joined FF and started to see the great effect it has had on my body shape, and fitness levels. I am now two clothes sizes smaller and a stone and a half lighter.

Running has now become something that I enjoy, but I never thought distance running would be something I looked forward to doing and how I would even get frustrated when any injury interrupted it.

Carla Rowland - Success Story

This is another aspect where FF has hugely benefitted my life. Even if I have picked up an injury, it doesn’t always stop me attending sessions as the FF coaches always adapt the exercises to allow me to carry on doing something.

So,  I am hoping to run the Great North Run this year. I play netball for my work team in the local league (the oldest team member by a few years) and attend 2 to 3 sessions a week at FF, which has got me in better shape at 46 than I have ever been.

All this is thanks to Fitness Formation. It’s amazingly welcoming and the semi-personal training opportunity enables people of all shapes, sizes and ages to make the most of life, achieve their own personal goals, improve their whole lifestyle and this is all within a community of amazing people.

I certainly don’t live a completely guilt free life, as my photo shows you, but FF means I can enjoy my lifestyle and still feel amazing. I am so grateful to Ryan, Dan and Ben and my fellow FFers for that, and would urge everyone to give it a go, as once you do you won’t look back.
