There is a saying that you are the sum of the five people that you spend the most time with. This may be a light bulb moment for some of you reading this. The meaning being that you realise that you are surrounded by negativity far too often. Maybe even every single day. That energy can consume you. It can overcome you.

We’re going to look at a few ways that we can change that emotion to a positive energy to enable you to be happy, and to help you to achieve success.

Positive surroundings – You may by now have realised that you are surrounded by negative people. We’ve spoken in previous blogs about ‘toxic’ people, and how we need to eliminate them from our lives. Negative people look to pick holes in your life to cover the cracks in their own. Change your environment. Change your surroundings. A change will enable you to channel any negative sentiments.

Happy place – If your feeling the negative energy overwhelming you, do the things that make you happy. Go to the gym. Read a book. Listen to your favourite music. Call or visit a friend who makes you laugh or makes you happy. Whatever it is that puts you in a happy place, do that. This will help to channel those negative thoughts away from you, and you’ll feel more relaxed and positive.

Recall happy memories – All of us have experienced things in life that have overwhelmed us with happiness. The birth of your children. Your wedding day. Graduation. Holiday. It’s been proven that recalling some of the happiest times of your life can help to combat any negative emotions you may be feeling. So the next time you feel negative energy overcoming you, go to your happy place, and recall some of your cherished memories.   

Meditate – Meditation is fast becoming recognised as a part of daily living in many people. The stigma that it once held has been erased, whilst it’s also scientifically proven to help channel positive thoughts, emotions and energy. Meditation helps you to master control of your mind. Incorporate it into your daily routine at the start of your day.
