Over the past few months, I’ve read a number of very moving, emotional and awe-inspiring success stories, that have really made me stop and appreciate the amazing journeys and battles that some people have been through to get to where they want to be.

So, when I was asked if I could send in my ‘Success Story’ I didn’t know what to write to be honest, compared to these people. I didn’t feel like I had a ‘Success Story’ to write about.

I’ve always been ok about my weight and body shape and to some extent, even the lumps and bumps that come with having two beautiful children. So, for me,  joining Fitness Formation was all about getting fit and healthy again. I’m fast approaching 40 and over the past ten years, it’s been all too easy to slip into a lifestyle of lazy evenings on the sofa watching TV and eating junk food.

Like most people, I’ve been a member of numerous gyms and I’ve attended all the latest craze’s when it comes to exercise classes (Zumba, Clubbercise, Boxercise, Aqua Fit) in an attempt to get fit, but after the initial motivation and enthusiasm had worn off, I would get bored and I always found myself slipping back into my usual routines and bad habits.

So, when Lesley (my partner in crime) rang me up to ask whether we should take up the FF ’28 Day Challenge’ that was being advertised, I, of course, said yes (I think it was probably the alcohol talking as I was actually in Spain drinking cocktails at the time). But, at the back of my mind, I was thinking that this would just be another one of those fads where the novelty would soon wear off.

Well, how wrong was I?

Lesley and I first entered the doors of Fitness Formation back in June 2015 and after loving our first year, we have recently both renewed our memberships. This is a first for me, having never renewed a membership at any other gym.

Dawn Allen - Success Story

When I joined FF, I soon learned that I’d not only become a member of a gym but I’d also become a member of a really close-knit and supportive family. The coaches go out of their way to get to know you as a person and find out what makes you tick. You’re not just another number on a forever growing spreadsheet. Each of the group sessions is fairly small in number so the coaches can really help you with your technique and give you the support and encouragement you need to keep improving week after week.

I actually look forward to my sessions at the studio and this is genuinely down to the coaches and all the members at FF who make each session so enjoyable. I absolutely love the banter, the friendliness and the relaxed and happy environment in which we work out.

Over the past twelve months, my fitness levels have improved and with this has come confidence and belief in myself and what I’m actually capable of doing. This is all down to the guys and gals at FF who continually push me and inspire me to try harder and better myself.

In the first 12 months, I have done things that I never thought that I’d be able to do. In April 2016, I completed the Born Survivor 10km obstacle course. In June 2016, I completed the 25km Moonlight Walk and just recently, I signed up to take part in my hardest and craziest challenge of all….

Ironman 70.3 in Majorca.

So, if you’re reading this and you’re in two minds as to whether to give Fitness Formation ago, just do it

I’m sure, like me, you won’t regret it.
