Back in May 2015, I went for my annual asthma check up. I jumped on the scales and to say I was horrified was an understatement. I weighed 62 kilos. I walked out of the doctors using every excuse to myself I could think of as to why I was so bloody heavy. The reality was I had put weight on and it needed to go.

I did nothing about it until October 2015 when I finally got my head out from up my arse and decided it was up to me to make changes. I started by cutting out all the crap we pretend we don’t eat and drink. It was a start and I stuck to it but I needed something more.

At the start of December 2015, a friend was running an on-line challenge to get fitter. Daily posts, daily exercise. It was just what I needed to kickstart me. The month challenge finished and I felt great, it had done me the world of good, but what happens now?

A friend asked me if I would do Born Survivor with her. She said the gym she goes to were doing it and they were running Sunday morning boot camps. I thought about it and really didn’t think I was fit enough to do it, but I agreed to go to the first boot camp to see how it went. From that first boot camp, I knew I wanted to be part of Fitness Formation. It was hard work, but so much fun. I didn’t feel out of my depth, and only ever received positive encouragement. I took my 14-year-old son along to do it and he loved it too, and couldn’t wait for Sundays to come round.

I was still doing exercises at home, the boot camps and I had started running again training for Born Survivor. I wanted to do more, though. When I saw a ‘6 Week Challenge’ being advertised by FF, I filled in my details and the next thing I was talking to Heather and had signed up for the programme. It was great and I loved it. It was like Sunday morning boot camps but I could go every day. Perfect. Just what I needed.

After the first six weeks, I signed up for membership. It has to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. Ryan, Daniel, Ben, and Heather are just the best, and they genuinely care about you. You walk in the door and are always greeted by your name or nickname. Everyone speaks to each other and are very genuine. I have to say I am not really a people person but I have made friends with some really lovely people and I enjoy being in their company immensely and look forward to each and every session I book into. Everyone is very encouraging of each other, which is great.

Personally, for me, no other gym could even come close to Fitness Formation and I say that to anyone that asks me. I’ve gone from being so unhappy about being unfit and 62 kilos to being fitter, toned and 51 kilos.

I am happy with myself but there is always room for improvement and that’s why I love Fitness Formation because they encourage and help you reach and achieve your goals.
