I joined up to Fitness Formation’s ‘6 Week Challenge’ back in February as I had seen their videos and had been reading their blogs religiously since Christmas. At first I was very nervous. I had been to many gyms before and never really felt comfortable or felt there were people there who truly knew me and my reasons for being in the gym.

However, this feeling melted away within minutes of joining and this was before I had even walked through the door! So many lovely people spoke to me on the FF page. I had finally found somewhere that I could see results from the clients and I was known by my name and not the number on the back of my membership card.

I have always had a problem with my weight, but this really was because I would find excuses not to go and workout as it wasn’t something I enjoyed and food was just a substance and therefore I have never really took the time to think about what I was eating. However now at the age of 25, married and wanting to start a family, I stood on the scales at 21st2lbs. This was when I knew something wasn’t right. The only pounds I was losing were the ones that were being taken out of my bank account by the gym. So I phoned up and cancelled my membership.

I found the enquires page on the FF website and sent an email saying “My name is Rachel. I am 25 and 21stone. I need to find somewhere that can help me lose weight and live a better life”. Within minutes, my phone rang and it was Heather from Fitness Formation. We were on the phone for a good 20 minutes and at that point I knew that this was right for me.

Jumping forward, and my 6 weeks was coming to an end. I had loved the sessions, the laughs I had with the #fitnessformationfamilia and I was actually learning about why I had the weight that I did and what I could do to tackle the specific areas as well as getting lessons in what to eat and how to cook healthy. Both Ryan and Daniel, the coaches, really took the time to ensure that I was exercising correctly and that I was pushing myself.

My favourite part of my week became my double session on a Saturday morning. We do one hour core conditioning and one hour group training. I love it! It really sets me up for the rest of my weekend and it has helped with my food choices while at home where before this would be my two days of indulging. Ryan and Daniel’s outlook on lifestyle changes and what you put in is what you get out ultimately helped me make the decision to join for a year.

I still have a long way to go but I now stand on the scales at 20st 1lb and 4 inches off my waist. I know it isn’t much but my whole body shape is starting to change. I am stronger, I can wear dresses more confidently and I have even started to get comments on my changes which is great.

I truly feel part of a team and I cannot wait to see what changes are going to happen over the year.
