After leaving school, I got fat. I stopped doing any exercise, started going out a lot and was in a comfortable relationship. The relationship ended and I was faced with the prospect of going to Cyprus for a friend’s wedding, fat and alone.

I was lucky to know a personal trainer who helped me with an exercise and food plan, and once the weight started dropping my life changed completely. I became obsessed with exercise and stuck to a strict food plan. Before I knew it, I had lost 5 stone and this new healthy approach to life became normal.

I then met my current partner and moved to Heysham. Although I tried to eat as healthy as possible, cooking for a hungry boy and eating out a lot made it difficult. I had also lost my favourite exercise apparatus, the hills (I’m from the Yorkshire Dales originally). I joined a local gym and would go regularly. Often this would result in me doing 15 minutes on the treadmill and a few sit ups.

I convinced myself it was ok, because I was ‘going to the gym’,  when really I was paying a fortune and not getting a lot out of it. Unsurprisingly, my clothes started to feel a bit tight. I felt uncomfortable and became scared of the scales again.

I was out with the girls one night when a friend said she’d joined Fitness Formation and had been to several and was noticing the difference already. I decided there and then that I was joining, and came off the phone to Heather having signed up to the ‘8 Week Transformation Challenge’.

I was incredibly nervous walking into my first session but Ryan soon made me feel welcome and put my nerves at ease. There’s no denying it was hard (it took me 7 seconds to do a single burpee) and every session still is, but I started seeing results straight away.

In the 3 months since joining, I have got my healthy lifestyle back through training hard and eating clean. I have lost a total of 1stone 10lbs,10 cm off my waist, 10 cm of my hips and even 4cm off my neck. It’s no exaggeration when I say I am completely hooked and I love every session at FF. Ryan, Dan and Ben are not only good fun, they are incredibly knowledgeable and always make sure technique is perfect.

Every session is completely different so it’s impossible to get bored. I feel stronger and fitter every week, and most importantly I never ever make excuses anymore. I find myself making time to go and workout rather than trying to fit it around other things in my life.

I’ve also made some great friends already. The #fitnessformationfamilia really are so friendly and supportive, which makes a huge difference when compared to a big, lonely, generic gym.

As with anything in life, you get out what you put in. If you are willing to put in the effort, FF is the perfect environment to make real changes to your life.
