Throughout my life, I have struggled with my weight on a massive level. I got into a habit of comfort eating, whether it was a celebration or commiseration, at that time of my life I wasn’t ready or interested in exercise, so it went downhill from there and my weight continued to gain as I was going into high school. This didn’t help.

I was the ‘fat’ one of my year, and I had to build a thick skin, and in essence go with it and laugh it off but then go home and cry. This didn’t encourage me to do anything still. My motivation just wasn’t there.

Then 2011 come round and I was off to uni. Either two things were going to happen, my weight would vanish due to stress of all the deadlines, or it would rocket sky high with all nighters, student nights out followed by a takeaway. I seemingly opted for the latter, which led me to leave university with a 2:1, at 16st. This wasn’t good.

My health was at risk. Even joining a street dance society whilst at university hadn’t made any difference. I didn’t join a gym straight away after coming home. I found casual work and gradually shed some of the weight purely down to not having breaks and being on my feet all day. I was still too self conscious to be seen in a gym.

In April 2016, a year after I lost my Dad suddenly, I was ready. Everything happening made me realise life was too short to waste. My frame of mind was there.

A family friend who is a personal trainer himself, spoke to me, asking me what it was I wanted, and upon hearing my response he recommended Fitness Formation to me, because he knew that for me to join a gym with bikes, treadmills, and no one behind you for motivation, I wouldn’t get the results I wanted. I respected him for being honest with me, he could have quite easily advised me to join one of the big chain gyms and I’d have wasted money.

Yasmin Kershaw - Success Story

FF is different. A lot different.

Daniel, Ryan and Ben are absolute nutters, but are exceptional at their craft. They give me motivation. My fitness has become my new guilty pleasure! I never thought I’d become one of those people who got excited about buying new gym clothes!

If I miss a session, I get withdrawal symptoms. They know your limits, yeah they will push you a bit more each time, but not too far to worry. They believe in you from day one.

I now believe in myself so much, I feel strong enough to do the Great North Run in September and I am by no means a runner! I genuinely cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me and my mindset.

You may have heard about the #fitnessformationfamilia. Initially, I never got it. That is until I officially joined. Everyone is just fab and friendly. Always on hand to advise you, pick you up or push you. They have become a second family to me. By far the best decision I have made.
