Over the last three nights, we have brought you six pointers to get you going in the right direction for 2017 and every year beyond. As we move seamlessly from year to year many of us fail to recognise one true fact that can never be undone, or re-written. Every time the calendar flips onto another year, we have one year less on this planet.

Pretty deep we know, but a hugely relevant point when it comes to managing our lifestyle to ensure that we make the most of the time that we have got. So many people say they will start eating healthy next month, so many people say they’ll start exercising next week, so many people say they will change their life this year but so many people fail to do anything to make their lives better.

Well, we’re here to tell you exactly how you can do that. Our secret is simple. So simple, it’s not really a secret at all. It’s the little things that not many of us do on a daily basis.

Blog Title - Gratitude

#7. Drink water. Our water intake is something that is crucially overlooked by so many. It’s a transporter for nutrients and waste products throughout the body. We lose around 2.5 litres of water a day through excretion, respiration, perspiration and an increase in energy metabolism when we exercise. This is where the guidelines arise from in terms of water intake per day.

We need to replace what we lose to function effectively day to day. These numbers can go even higher if we’re working out in hot conditions, up to as much as 5-6 litres. Dehydration has a huge effect on cognitive function especially during physical activity, just as it does on our everyday lifestyle including work. Drink water, function better. This habit is key.

#8. Journal. We often overlook the chance to show gratitude for the things that are good in our lives. It’s easy to focus on the negatives that surround us. Journalling is one of the things that can help to draw clarity on what we have and how we can be grateful for the life we lead. It doesn’t have to be war and peace. Simply jotting down three things a day that you’re grateful for can be enough to take our mindset to a more positive place.
